Google finally released a solution for their Legacy #Gsuite users forced upgrade to Workspace, which turned out to be .. confirm that the account is personal/family related and nothing much happens. They reserve the right to convert you to #workspace if they get an inkling you are a business after all, though.

One thing driving me nuts in #Korea currenlly: They issue an extreme wireless emergency alert every single day with yesterdays count of Covid-19 cases and a url for more information.
It drives me up the wall because my phone goes off like a doomsday siren every time I get one of these, I can't find a setting to silence it and I (so far) haven't dared stop my phone receiving warnings in case they suddently send an emergency warning that was .. you know, an emergency.
Technically, their investment did go to the moon, or rather the moon came to it, which is very much like the same thing if you do not currently have a civilization on the planet that you're super invested in
Now that we are travelling, my communication needs have once again increased and I'm searching around for a general messenger type app to recommend people get and I need some suggestions. I prefer to avoid the major corps so google/facebook/whatsapp is out. I already have Signal but its not for everyone. And XMPP is nice but I'm not in a "do some work and create some accounts" position atm, so would prefer something ready to use. What do people use these days? #askfediverse #chatapp
Christian fundamentalists in the US has been working towards banning abortion for decades, ever since right wingers figured it was a great issue to manipulate Christians into voting for them.
Decades of work, within all part of society.
Remember that.
They are working towards the same goal in your country too.
If you don't see it, you're just not looking in the right places, or they're not strong enough. Yet. But they are working. Rights are never won forever, we must always fight for them.
I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.
Congratulations to the @tails project for the release of Tails 5.0, the first version based on Debian Bullseye:

If you use Tails for SecureDrop, please do not upgrade those USBs just yet. We will issue a SecureDrop update later this week to add support for Tails 5.0.
@JosteinSN Halla! 😀

@mgdelacroix Hi Miguel! Thanks for the follow, returning the favour 😋
While the Mastodon #ipv6 only experiment was fun, I saw no point in sticking to the barricades for much longer. Perhaps at some point a dedicated instance to it have to be set up.
So I have reinstated proper html handling, removed the "HTTP 410 Gone" reponse and once again added the A-record to the DNS.
The speed in which posts are now appearing in the timeline have now increased considerably.
PSA: To everyone who is #NewHere, and those who are not.
When you use hashtags it can help those using a #ScreenReader to use #CamelCase. Screen-readers can then find and pronounce the constituent words, rather than trying to pronounce the whole thing.
It's not essential, but it's one way we can make the Fediverse more welcoming.

Mastodon PSA, mostly for admins
Mastodon has a thing called AUTHORIZED_FETCH. You should almost definitely enable it.
Some people say "but blocked instances can still see my posts" well not with this thing on. This makes server check who is trying to get your posts and will yeet all the blocked instances. That's what all modern software just assumes but it prevents Scaling (and relays) so it's not on by default.

If you are on masto.host you can ask this to be enabled.
